Because the little things--unfinished

I have been posting layouts that I call cheaters on Sundays recently, I just wanted to take a minute to show you where a cheater comes from. This is a layout I made for a class at the GASC last summer. I didn't have any photos that fit the layout when I made it so I brought it home and put it into my unfinished layout album. It's keeping company with about 30 or 40 other layouts, some double pages, some single pages.
The class was a quick quotes class and I just love how it turned out.

Those chipboard butterflies are spectacular and unfinished they look like wood veneers, or so I think!

Love this quote!

And a place for journaling!
So that's how a cheater starts, when I come across the right photos I will glue them down and post it again with cheater in the title.

Jessie's Girls--August 2012 CKC

This layout is based on a sketch from Sketch'n'Scrap. I love this site! Even though I did this layout last August I didn't seem to have the time to upload it till now. That was the case with all my layouts from August, I will hopefully be getting them all uploaded  in the near future! I actually made it using a kit that I put together for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog, but hey, I didn't even post a photo of that till last September. LoL!!
This layout is of my niece's best friend Jessie, she was in a horrible car accident in September 2011 and had a pretty severe head injury. We took my niece Amber's 2 girls out to see Jessie and her mom when I was there in January 2012.

I love that I was able to use 3 straight pins here, I didn't put many into that kit, but believe me I have tons of them that I bought years ago and still haven't made a dent in my stash of them.

I love mixing fonts!

I used one of the title tags "you" on this layout just for the phrase. I was also excited that I was finally able to use this little file folder embellishment that has been in my stash for years and years. I actually got it from a swap I was in, when I used to swap, at least 5 or 6 years ago.

The brads weren't in my kit but I thought they tied all the colors I used in the kit together.

They Sleep in Chairs Like Babies

This is layout #13 from my Feb CKC Irish Soul kit, I'm finding it hard to believe I have gotten so many layouts from this kit and I still have tons of scraps in my box, though they are getting pretty tiny!
This layout was inspired by the Feb 15 sketch at Stuck, really, I did start out with the sketch!!! I used all scraps for this layout and I had to add the kraft cardstock. I have one piece of brown cardstock that hasn't been cut into left in my kit so I may be able to squeeze out one more layout if I find time in the next couple of days!

I stamped on the canvas shapes and the sentiment along the bottom.

I mixed up the alpha's again because I am running so low on some of them. I might toss some out after I finish with this kit, but then again they might come in useful on some random project! LoL!! I can be such a hoarder!!!

If you look closely you can tell that I Frankensteined some letters on this layout, I just learned that term recently! On the word They, the Y is a cut down X; the word Like the E is from a F and Z; and the word Babies, the A is from a V and Z, the E is from an O and K and the S is from my green letters that I inked to make blue, in person you really can't tell the difference like you can in this picture!

PL week #6

This is Week #6 for PL, I'm loving how it's coming together!! I'm also calling this layout #12 from my Feb CKC Irish Soul kit.
Sorry about the glare, I forgot to take pictures before I put each piece in the page protectors. I did add in a few extras besides my kit this week.

I cut out the word hello on a tag for an earlier layout and of course I can't throw anything away so I added it here!

I used a scrap of paper just so that I would have room to add some washi tape to this photo.

These photos are kinda out of the norm for me, I don't usually take pictures of my food, OK, I never take pictures of my food, so really this is a first!! The photo on the right is one that I took while I was at work. There is a huge mechanical sculpture/art piece hanging in the lobby of one of the hospitals entrances, it just happened to be lit up as I was leaving work one night and I took a picture. I added the little red tag to it.

I bought a package of label tabs and I used a couple of them here. I also used another of my home made vellum envelopes  that I dressed up and I actually added a piece of brown cardstock to the inside, just to keep from seeing the backside  of the card behind it.

I used the pull out card to add journaling to, it's actually a larger piece of the cut apart sheet that I cut the bottom off of for journaling.

Here's a close up to see the journaling.

I stamped on a canvas speech bubble to add to this photo.

I had cut out a hexagon from the background paper and wanted to use an orange piece of paper here so I printed out a photo of the logo to the restaurant we went to and cut out a journal spot from the cut apart sheet to type my journaling on to cover it.

I used my first emphema this week, I cut bits of the tag from Mr Gulley's new Wrangler's and added them to the photos.

I dug out my white journal pen and am not really happy with how it looks, but I can't complain too much since I haven't used it for at least 6 months or maybe longer.

I used the other half of the red tag I used earlier.

I added this journal spot  from a pack I got at Michael's several weeks ago.

I added the green tag to this and stamped the SUN on it.

Final picture...no make up and all! I had to get creative with the letters again!

I am so loving PL!!! I feel like I am capturing our everyday lives and that doesn't always reflect in my scrapbooking!

Cutting the Cake--Cheater

The base of this layout was one I did several years ago while in a class at the GASC in Arlington, Tx. It has been in my unfinished layout album for a long time. Several months ago I went through  my album with a stack of photos and added tons of photos  to them. I'm so happy that this layout is finally finished.

Funny story...I actually put my grand daughters birth date on the layout instead of the actual wedding date. I went back and changed it after I saw what I did, but I didn't take any photos of the change! BTW the actual wedding date was August 14, 2011.

Sorry about the glare! I added the journal spot, it's one that I found on the Internet and printed it out.

I love the bright colors in this layout and the glittery thicker alpha works perfectly for this layout.

I popped up several stickers on this layout.

There is a flourish sticker under the flowers that you can see on this photo.

There's a clear overlay with the birds and the outline.

Another sticker popped up.

Christmas Card

It's time for another Merry Monday Challenge Christmas Card, the challenge this week was to make an elegant card. I guess each person's idea of elegant is personal, but after seeing all the design team members matting with sometimes 3 to 5 layers, I figured it must make for an elegant card. LoL!!
So I found a sheet of gold paper in my stash and  proceeded to cut it for a mat along with dark green cardstock. The base paper is from SEI and the ribbon is from my stash.

I stamped the CTMH image on the cream cardstock and again on a scrap of cardstock so I could cut it out. On the cut out piece I used a jelly roller glitter pen to trace over the musical notes and the wording, I used it on the sleigh portion that is on the cream base as well.

I used the same green ink to stamp the CTMH sentiment on the inside of the card. I added a bit of the glittered paper from the front to the inside as well as the dk green cardstock.

Products Used:
Glittered Cardstock--SEI
Dark Green cardstock--Bazzill
Gold Paper--Unknown source
Cream cardstock--CTMH
Stamped images--CTMH
Glitter pen--Jelly Roller

Zena

This is layout #11 from my Feb CKC Irish Soul kit and I absolutely love that I have used so many scraps in this layout!
I was inspired by Sketch #247 at Creative Scrappers, I know you might not think it looks much like the sketch but sketches are a starting point...right!?!? I added the kraft background paper, the paint/ink splatters in green and sunset and several brown brads.

Here's a close up of the scraps on the upper corner and the splatters.

I stamped the sentiment I love this life on a couple of scraps  of die cut pieces that were in my kit.

If you look closely you can see I doctored up a letter "A" because I was out of them.

I needed to add another little pop of blue to the bottom so I cut one of the CTMH stickers and tucked it in with the green chipboard piece.

As you can see my journaling is pretty self explanatory!

Boys

This is layout #10 from my Feb CKC Irish Soul kit. I'm so excited that I reached my goal and have gotten 10 layouts so far and I still have a few more to share!
This layout was inspired by Lets Get Sketchy Feb 1 sketch. The only thing I added was the white background paper and the brown brads in the banner, otherwise everything from this layout was in my kit.

For the banner I used scraps of paper and for the metal pieces in between I broke them in half so I would have enough to go between all the pennants and I secured them with brown brads.

The little edge piece beside the photo that says boys is from the branding strips on one of the EP papers from my kit. The title is from the sticker sheet as are the lower arrows. And look...I finally was able to use that little piece with the train.

The star border is from the border strip page.

I used one of the little envelopes I made to place a tag with hidden journaling and just a little piece of washi completed it..

Well that's it for today!
